Can I use "like" to give an example instead of "such as" ?

For example:
Some people, like Buddhists, are restricted to eat any meat.

If you're giving an example, you need to use "such as".

We generally only use like if we're saying that two things are similar. For example,

"Bob, like Fred, enjoys long walks on the beach."

On the GMAT, "as" is far more commonly correct than "like".
