Hi, I have graduated with a BS of Biochemistry degree in 3 years with a low GPA of 2.87. My GRE is 690 Verbal, 720 Quantitative (or 760 as my higher score for quant). I have worked in a lab about 3 years, do i have a chance at all for any MBA program??? If I do, what kind of schools should i aim for? Also, if I own about 1/8 of shares in a private company, does that help???
Dear hockeygal,
You do have a chance at an MBA program. The question is really more of which program is the right program for you. I encourage you to read the Stacy Blackman sticky on school selection for tips on identifying programs. Owning equity in a private company, on its own, is not going to be an advantage for you. It is interesting--but MBA admissions committees are more interested in what you have done in your career to date, how you have progressed, what your leadership and team experiences are, and how this experience is relevant to your future career goals. Very few MBA programs accept the GRE in lieu of the GMAT, so you might consider taking the GMAT. A high GMAT score will help mitigate your GPA and expand your potential school list.
Good luck,
Lisa
