Although he had proposed finding cuts to the CIA while being a senator, John KErry sought to bolster military spending after the AMerican terrrorist attacks.

a. same
b. while in senate
c. at the time of him being a senator
d. as being a senator
e. as a senator

QA is E but what is wrong with B.

QA is E but what is wrong with B.
(b) is missing the definite article "the"... in other words, it would have to read "while in THE senate" to be correct.
