Of the 800 employees in a certain company, 70% have serviced more than 10 years. A number of y of those who have serviced more than 10 years will retire and no fresh employees join in. When is y if the 10 years employees become 60% of the total employees?

Question is not very clear . But we need to answer in less than 1 min

so .................... earlier 560 (70%) = the no of employees with 10+ exp

then 240 = the no of employees with 10 or less than 10 year s of experience

After Y employees leave ( from 10+ group) , we are asked what is the value of Y which will make the 10+ group 60% of the total population

......................Right , then

240 is 40% of total number , total number = 600 employees then no of 10+ = 360

so 200 left , hence Y = 200

IMO 200 as well.

800(.7) = 560 people who have serviced more than 10 years.

y people left. let x be the remaining # of people who have serviced more than 10 years.

560 - x = y.

x = 560 - y

so x = 0.6(800-y)

560 - y = 0.6(800-y) and solve for y,

y = 200.
