Profile Evaluation

Hello,

I from India and I am very much interested in doing MSA in the US. I thought I prepared well for the GMAT and was ranging between 650 to 700 in my mocks. But sadly I got a shocking 530. I am planning to retake the GMAT in the next 6weeks. Meanwhile I would like to know whether I can apply with this score to some of the schools because the deadlines are nearing

My GPA is 3.37 and With Grade A in almost all the accounting subjects.
I did my undergraduation from one of the top colleges in India,
I am an International chess player.
Did one month internship at a small audit firm when I was in college.

Target Schools:- William and Mary, Virginia Tech, James Madison, Case western Reserve, University of North Carolina Wilmington ,bentley and last option wisonsion Whitewater(do you have any idea about this school, I just kept it as a back up option because my sister lives there and she said its good in the mid west.)

Because of my GMAT score, I have ruled out all the top schools. Do I at least have a chance by applying to these schools?

Any input from your side would be of great help.

Dear Ashok,

Since admissions decisions are made on more than a GMAT and GPA, it is hard to comment on your chances at these schools with the limited information you posted. Generally speaking, you want to be in the mid-50% range of the school's GMAT scores to be competitive, but above average is best for international applicants due to the volume of international applications. You do not indicate you have any professional work experience (full-time, post-bachelor's degree), so schools will also be expecting you to address why you feel you are ready now versus gaining experience first. I think you are on the right track with your list of schools, but a higher score would strengthen your applications.
