My answer was A, but IMO is E

I think "like" fits better...maybe if E said "such as" I would understand, but just "as" does not look right....

My explanation may not be sufficient. But, I agree with the OA.

They are wastes (plural) as there are many things and not just waste(single). If you look at the answer choices only three of them have mentioned plural noun. Among those three, C sounds awkward (forcing separating such ..)

Option D is also awkward and wordy (forcing that they ) OA correctly matches the plural noun and also if you look at the sentence Ordinance is intended to force householders and a "to" is expected. OA correctly matches.

Stuart or someone could explain better.

It does say "such as".. the two words are separated, that's all.

(A) says "to separate such hazardous waste like"

"such... like" isn't the proper idiom. If we have "such", we need to follow it with "as". Eliminate (A).

On another idiomatic note, we always force someone "to do" something. So, we need to force householders "to separate", which gets rid of (b), (c) and (d): choose (e).
