PLEASE GUIDE ME STACY MADAM !

by j5makk » Tue Dec 14, 2010 10:05 pm
Iam a doctor from India with an experience of 6+ years
My attendance was 80% and around 61% average throughout my MBBS degree which i did from one of the best colleges in Mumbai and in India. My GMAT score is 710[V-39/Q-49/AWA-5].

Also I always craved for knowledge and improvement, and in doing so to search for new horizons and to enhance my understanding of various hospital setups i had changed my job a few times, working on an average for 1-2 years in each place.
My zeal for improving healthcare situation in India and Globally is enormous ............I dream of it everyday,I keep reading various articles on healthcare and studying various models of the same.
I also have a habit of charting a balance sheet for any product or service I see and I evaluate the capital investment of it as I see the maintanence costs and efforts and the profits involved in it.

I work for an orphanage and have done some camps aimed at social service and have attended a few CMEs.
I was accounts secretary in the students council during my graduation and paricipated in a few intercollegiate dance competitions, fashion shows and play cricket, football and table tennis.

I am applying for MBA schools in the top 30 from the financial times MBA rankings and also expect scholarship /fee waiver to certain extent.Cost factor is important for me as I belong to a middle class family.

Please guide me madam.
Thank you in anticipation.

Dear j5makk,

I'm not sure what your question is based on your post. If you are asking for a general evaluation of your candidacy, then I would have to say your decisions will greatly depend on how well you articulate your rationale for an MBA and your career goals, not to mention put together your overall application package. You have a competitive GMAT score for the top 30. It is a bit unclear what your academic record looks like, but it seems you did well. The main question will be how the MBA fits in with your medical degree and how medicine relates to your post-MBA career goals. I will say that you should not expect a scholarship or fee waiver from any school. These are tough to be awarded, especially from top 30 programs. With a stellar application package, a scholarship award is possible, but certainly not something to expect.

Good luck,
Lisa
