I'm aiming for ISB Hyderabad. Please evaluate my profile and let me know areas were i need to focus before applying.

GMAT:
740 in GMAT (Q50,V41) with 5.0 in AWA.
(Is it competitive enough for an application with IT background(Telecomm Industry) with 3 years exp?)

Academics:
I'm a Computer Science Engineer from National Institute of Technology in India. My undergrad GPA is 7.7 on scale of 10.
Secured 85% and 92% in high school and inter(XII th) with above 95% in maths and science.

Work Experience:
I'm currently having 2.5 years of work experience in application and smart phone platform development for samsung handsets.
Was part of development and validation team which developed and released Samsung's first proprietary smartphone OS (Bada).

Was part of development team and lead few members in development of Twitter Application (for Samsung Bada OS) which was displayed in World Mobile Congress-2010 and was later on commercialized for Samsung smartphones with Bada OS.

I have worked for around 3 months in Samsung Headquaters Suwon South Korea, were i directly interacted with clients and was part of development team and lead few engineers in development of 1st preloaded Twitter application for samsung Wave handsets.

Lead a team of 3-4 members in deeloping applications for samsung app store few of which were among top free applications.

Extracurricular activities:
This is were i'm a bit concerned. Not much to tell after college.
In college was part of Media club. And was Media Comittee Senior Executive in Technical and Cultural fests. Not much free time after college i have joined an NGO and do voluntary work not too often.I'm part of my companies Chess club.

Please let me know areas were i need to polish myself before applying for R1 next year.

Dear Karthik,

I commend you for thinking in advance about how to improve your candidacy over the next year. I agree that extracurriculars/community involvement since college is a weakness for you. So, use this time to find an organization you are highly interested in and get involved. It is a great way to build leadership and teamwork skills, in addition to what you build in the professional environment. My only other advice for you is to seek out opportunities in your career to lead project, people or both. You want to show your responsibilities have increased over the course of your career and you want to show you have gained a good managerial skill set. Focus on building your resume, both professionally and in the community, and you will be on your way to having a competitive profile when you write your applications.

Good luck,
Lisa
