Your sweet spot schools in the US assuming you get your GMAT score are between top 5 and top 15.

Top 5-10 are you stretch schools and 10-15 are the safer schools.

You have a unique enough profile/background to be competitive and 'stand-out'. Now it's just a matter of execution.

The reality is that coming from India you will be competing against a great many high-scoring applicants. That will make your GMAT score particularly important. Be sure you use the best available resources to build your score. Kaplan's excellent online courses can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Your architectural background and international experience, as well as a strong GMAT score, may compensate for your academic record.

You should be sure to stress your involvement with green technology. Check out beyondgreypinstripes.org. That independent, non-profit website rates schools according to their social and environmental activities. By targeting schools that have a strong interest in ( and many courses in) green technology you will enhance your chances.

A good school list will include 2 "reach" schools (dream schools); 2-3 schools in your "sweet spot" (schools that closely match your metrics and interest) and 2-3 "safety" schools. (schools at which your background and metrics would stand out). A trained admissions consultant can help you identify the best schools for you and ensure that your essays do the best possible job of telling your story.

Good luck,
Tani Wolff
