Hi,

Can you provide me with some more details around your work experience? I'm a little unclear as to the industry and your exact role.

Thanks,

Stacey

Hi stacy,
let me first describe wat is a rake. rake is a term used used for a train with many wagons carrying stocks of materials.
In my case it is a train with 40-60 wagons filled with around 1200--1300 50kg bags of fertilizers.
We have to arrange for trucks and laborers to unladen the wagons and load the stocks into trucks destined for diiferent wholesale distributors , godown and different companies.
In this a fixed time is allotted by the Indian Railway to do the work done and vacate the station for next rake, failing which we have to pay heavy fines.

My Role :- I take care of the logistics part related to it. Different problems arise at diiferent times. For example sometimes there are 3-4 rakes of different organisation such as ours at a time and shortage of labor and trucks arise. at other times we are informed that the rake will reach a station at a certain time but it getd delayed by days from 2-8 and in this case have to convince the laborers to stay and wait and leave as they come from different places.. We have to keep track of the unloading process so that bags are not stolen, are counted properly while being unladen . At Other times rain can be a problem. Their are many other such problems.

It is not a everyday job with 9 to 5 or anything. When a rake comes its from morning 5 to midnight continuous for 2-3 days depending upon various problems faced. On other days maintaining godowns, and despatching stocks from godowns takes place. Some days are free also

I hope that gives you an idea. Please letme know if want to know anything else to analyse.

Hi,

Thanks for the additional information and clarification around your role. You certainly have an interesting and unique career to date and one that will set you apart from other applicants in the pool. With that in mind, you will need to assume that adcom members won't know exactly what your job is, therefore it is on you to be very clear and descriptive in your resume and essays.

As far as your chances of success at the schools on your list, I'm not able to provide you with specific odds of admission. Your chances will depend not only on how well you tell your story, but also how well you are able to articulate your goals. You didn't share your reason for seeking an MBA. Is it to further advance in your current field? Is it to switch jobs and industry? Be sure to clearly state your short and long term goals in your essays and map out just how an MBA can help you to achieve them.

Overall, if you are able to do as I suggested above, I think you may be able to be competitive for admission. Again, your success lies in your overall ability to clearly communicate your message in your applications and essays.

Regards,

Stacey
