Regarding the B School Admission

by sunildutt_b » Mon Jan 14, 2008 12:48 am
Hi,

I took GMAT test in NOv 2005 and secured 540. I have a GPA of 8.23 in Bachelor of Technology. And i have a total experience of more than 2 years in IT industry. Please assist me on whether i need to take the test again(as i feel i can improve my score still) or what are the best colleges to which i can apply for with this score?

Thanks in advance.

Hi sunildutt_b,

I would definitely re-take the test, it can't hurt and is quite common for applicants to take the test several times. If you think there is room for improvement, you are probably right.

GMAT is not the only factor considered, and I know several applicants who have been successful with very low scores - generally applicants with outstanding work experience or incredibly interesting backgrounds.

However, your choices with a sub 600 score and an IT background are a bit limited. I'd suggest looking at businessweek.com for their interactive school search, you can search by the mean GMAT score to get some idea of what schools are in your academics range.

Good luck!
