Was the price of a certain stereo in March greater than its price in May?

(1) The price of the stereo in March was 80 percent of its price in April.
(2) The price of the stereo in April was 120 percent of its price in May.

To me the answer is E because if we combine both, we have [P march < P april] and [P may <P april] but we can not know P march is greater or P may. what is your idea?

thnx

Hi mehrasa.

I believe the answer is C.

Pick numbers, assume March is 100.

March (100) = .8 ( April)

April (125) = 1.2 ( May)

May = 104

March < May
