Is there a consensus here for which format offers the greatest opportunity for a higher score?

I have heard that by using the paper method you could improve your score 20-40 points. Can this be true?

Anyone have any experience?

Well My advice is to go for online tests mostly..as the final exam we have to give Online only...
U can consider Paper format if u wanaa try some extra questions for practice...
for paper format u will have to consider scoring like .5 x no of right answers or something like that...so that's why u may have find it increases 20-40 points
but taking test online will help u keep a note of time as all the online tests comes in timed mode also it will give u practice for the taking test using PC..

You can ONLY take the test on computer. It is not offered on paper. If it were, millions of people would opt for that!! You could go back to previous questions, write on the test, all of those things we want to do but cannot.

For that reason, it also very important to do practice tests on the computer. When you do practice tests, you will want to make sure that you simulate test conditions as well - take them somewhere not silent, like the public library, do the AWA on at least some of your practice tests and try to take as many as possible at the same time of day that you will be taking the real GMAT.

You can also enhance your practice when you do use paper books or tests if you do not write on your books, pretend it is a computer screen and use scratch paper or even better the kind of plastic sheets you use on test day.
