I wrote my 1st mgmat cat today: mgmat 1: 670 (q43, v38) 6/10

I don't understand the scoring on mgmat, nor do I want to. However I am perturbed at the level of the questions. I got 18 correct in quant and 25 of the questions were 700-800 level. I got 24 correct in verbal and 24 of the questions were 700-800 level. Is normal to have this many questions in 700-800 level?? Did u guys experience the same?

I know, MGMAT goes overboard with the 700-800 level Qs. But some of those 700-800 Qs dont feel like 700-800 (a 700-800 DS problem could take 40 seconds). However, I like MGMAT's guides better overall.

Keep in mind, you probably won't be getting that many high level Qs. The gmat actually throws in easier "experimental" qs that dont count which can give your brain a breather. Also, when you answer a bunch high level Qs in a row correctly, the GMAT may give you an easier Q from the pool that may still count towards your grade.

Also please note that their Verbal score is a little over the top-u make 16 mistakes and still might end up with 36....

Ta for the input guys. Yeh, the mgmat quant guides are second to none. That said, their verbal stuff does'nt impress me. I know alot of people on this forum rave about the mgmat sc book, but frankly, I think it is almost impossible to absorb. I think aristotle does a much better job albeit highly condensed yet concise. I've got 4 mgmat cats to complete in the next few days, however I'm in a quandry about whether I should attempt their verbal as well. Official gmat is a language all on its own and since I have just 12 days left, I wanna stick to their "lingo". Quant however, is a different ballgame and here mgmat is definitely the king. I have'nt taken a formal math class in 17 years and using their guides I've moved from 25 to 46.....so they definitely have my vote there!
