Thoughts: Decent GMAT with Above Avg Experience

Hello,

First, let me give my appreciation for your time and consideration on my information. I just took the GMAT on Sat. Scored a 650 (Q 44, V 35). I've been out of school since '03, went to James Madison U, been working within the financial services industry for the last 7 years, of which 5+ has been with two big 4 firms. Four of the 5+ have been in a consulting role.

My target schools: Rd 1 Duke, Georgetown (only schools i have a shot at doing round 1 for)
Potential Rd 2: Northwestern, UVA, Michigan, Columbia, UNC

I hoping my experience will put me within striking distance for most of these b/c my GMAT is on the lower part of the avg 50-80% of what these schools have been receiving.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

How much your GMAT hurts your chances at any of these schools will depend on the quality of the rest of your application. If you have a high GPA, that will help. If you have advanced in your career and gained breadth/depth in your field, that will help. If you have evidence of leadership and teamwork successes, that will help. In essence, if your GMAT score is your only potential weakness in your application, then you have a shot. That means, your essays, recommendations, resume and interview must be stellar and make a compelling case for your admission. You must present a solid rationale for an MBA, realistic career goals, and a fit with the school. If you feel you have a quality application package, then submit and see what happens.
