I was confused between A and B, and came up with answer A. Can anyone explain what's wrong with A or why is B is prefered to A?

So, are A and B grammatically incorrect?

In my understanding, "not" in E is to put the focus on "all the proceedings of the Communist party conference",
and "not" in A&B put their stresses on "were carried live" . Is that why E is prefered to A and B?

Which one would you pick? Personally I would prefer the second one over the first. I don't know if A is grammatically incorrect, but it just doesn't sound right.

Come to think of it, the first choice would almost mean that none of the M&M's are purple, and thus alters the meaning of the expression.
