Apply in Priority Round or Wait

by kellyeroses » Sat Dec 29, 2007 5:52 pm
I took the GMAT before Thanksgiving and only got a 550 due to a low Quant score. I am applying to Top 25 schools and want to know if I should rush to take the GMAT prior to the 1/15 deadline or wait till a later deadline to give myself more time to study? I have been working with the Kaplan Math workbook, the OG Quant Review and OG regular but want to make sure I am prepared. I feel like giving myself more time will ensure I do better on the GMAT but don't want to wait and then not get in anyway.

My main question is for the March 1st deadline are there really spots at schools like Kelley, Smith and Fisher?

Thanks for your help and advice.

Hi K,

I would get in touch with your target schools to see if they accept material after the deadline. If so, you may be able to take the GMAT after the deadline (within reason) and still be able to submit it to your schools.

Round 3 is very competitive because there are less slots (most are filled in R1 and R2). It is best avoided, but of course there are applicants who are successful in R3.

Good luck!
