Hi,

for the essay "Which recent development, world event or book has most influenced your thinking and why?"

I'm planning to write about a book on Spirituality which influenced me. It's a book (available only through my organization) written by my Guru, whom I follow regularly.

The influences I'm planning to write are:

How important it is to "realize the self"
Ability to regulate thoughts
Opportunities to travel and learn new things
Circle of Influence Vs Circle of Concern (My Guru also told this in a different way)
Importance of work-life balance

All these in my opinion are important in business, however, I'm not clear how adcom would see it. Please let me know if these points are appropriate for the response expected by Said.

Thanks in adv.
RG.

Dear RG,

There is not a right or wrong answer on this question--just your answer. If you feel this book has most influenced your thinking and can articulate how that relates to your career, then it could be an interesting essay. Said is not as concerned with what book or event as much as how that book or event has influenced you and why. It is the how and why that is important.

Good luck,
Lisa

Hi Stacy,

Thanks for the above reply. However does the event/book have to be recent ?

Cant it be something in the past (4-5 years back) which had a significant impact and also you have actions that you followed it up with?

Regards,
Amit
