I did not post much on the forum but that's because I only found out about it 2 weeks before my test!
I took the test yesterday in NYC (500 5th a 5:30pm if anybody was there) and I had studied for about 2 months.
I am so relieved as even though I was pretty confident on my skills I just got back from Europe the day before and to top things off I had a bad cold...
Here are some tips on to take the test:
-If you have a runny nose like mine ask for tissues they will provide them for you
-Don't forget to ask for earplugs!
-Choose your seat wisely (not under the AC for example)
-Once you finish your essays get rid of the keyboard, you wont need it.
-don't worry if you find the questions easy, it does not mean anything, I was afraid I was doing poorly on the math section because I found the questions not challenging at all except for 3 or 4. Also I did not get any probability or permutation questions...
What did I use to study:
I really wanted to ace the test so I took 15hrs with a tutor a Kaplan, when I look back I think it was not worth it. He did not really adapt the program to my needs but only went over the regular Kaplan material.
I took the diagnostic test and test 1 2 3 4 5 then I stopped because the scores I was getting were bringing my moral down:
Diagnostic: 630
test 1: I messed up the math (no time to finish) so I canceled it.
test 2: 690 (felt on top of the world)
test 3: 570 (once again no time to finish math) (starting to descend from the top
)
test 4: 590 (same story) (felt pretty awful)
test 5 (ultimate test at the pearson facility): 580 (same story) (wanted to burned down anything related to gmat :twisted: )
Then I discovered the forum through a good friend who had just got a 750 the day before, she told me all about Kaplan and suggested I worked on OG and do the test from the powerprep software. My test was supposed to be 2 days later so I postponed it to the 26th to have some time to regroup. I took 3 days off from my preparation to breeze a little bit.
Powerprep 1: 680
Powerprep 2: 700
I still had a week and I just did some more questions from OG11 until the big day.
If I had to do it again I would probably work more on the English section (I am French). I tend to only practice math because I thought the questions were fun 8)
