GMAT 720. Good enough of these schools?

Hello,

I gave my GMAT this Saturday and got a score of 720 (Q50 V37). I was wondering if this score is high enough to not affect my application to b schools. I'm targeting the following schools:

1. Stanford
2. Haas
3. Ross
4. Kellogs
5. Stern

My score is probably a bit lower as far as Stanford is considered, but for other schools, will it make the cut? Does anyone has any insights on this?

What is the mean for Stanford? They have the median on their website, but as the GMAT has taught me, that doesn't really tell me much as to the average. Is a 720 above the average?

The average is 726 - very close to the median (730). jrikhraj, your 720 score is definitely close enough to put you in the ballpark, as far as the GMAT goes. Your score is above average for each of the other schools on your list.

That is a great score. While no one aspect will guarantee admission at a top school, anything above a 700 is enough to keep you solidly "in the running". And, your quant score is great!

Don't get too hung up on the exact numbers. Once you are in a certain range, it isn't the GMAT score that is getting you in (or not getting you in). If you aren't admitted with a 720, you probably wouldn't have been the right fit with a 740 either.

This mentality is putting me at ease with the realization that I have a low GPA. My friend asked me the other day if I was worried about my GPA and I said "You know what... if I score above 700 on the GMAT.. .and put together a stellar application... and I'm still not accepted and it's because of my GPA then that's not a school that I would fit in at anyway, so it doesn't really bother me."
