Help required!

Hi Amy,

My Gmat score is 670 (Q50,V30)
I applied to Boston University MS-MBA and was really disappointed that i did not receive a positive reply from Boston as i thought with 4 years experience (Including international exp of 9 months),Strong acads, professional and academic accomplishments and a competitive GMAT score i had a very good chance of making it.
Avg GMAT score for Boston was less than my GMAT score.
Boston had sent interview invitations to candidates a day after 15th November which probably means they only focused on GMAT score and did not go through the applications, work experience and accomplishments which was a bit of upsetting factor as i did not receive an interview invitation.

I am a bit low on confidence after the Boston University results,But i am preparing full throttle for the UNC interview lined up in a couple of days.

Can you give me some advice on safe colleges for me which are good for pursuing consulting as a career ?So that i can be hopeful.

I am only aiming in the US .

Thanks.
Kathik..

Hi Kathik,

I'm sorry to hear that BU didn't work out for you.

As we mention a lot in this forum, the application process is holistic, and unfortunately cannot be summed up easily as a calculation of GMAT scores and GPAs.

I would suggest working on your essays, if you think that everything else is strong. You probably had a hard time communicating exactly what was different about you, how you could contribute, and some of the other personal qualities that are important. Remember, your essays provide color beyond your resume.

Good luck!

Hi kathik,

Have you progressed at work (promotions and increased responsibilities)? What about extracurricular activities? One factor I can't see in your profile is what kind of leadership experience you may have, which may indicate your management potential.

Have you read the sticky thread on school selection? That may help you narrow down some of your options. I would advise starting with the really excellent and comprehensive statistics at businessweek.com and then refining your selection from there.

Good luck!
