If a + b - c = d, and if a - b + c = e, then a =
(A) ½ (d + e)
(B) d - e
(C) 2 d + e
(D) d + e
(E) 2 (d + e)

a + b = d+c
a - b = e - c
----------------
2a = d+e
a = (d+e)/2
The answer is (A).
