Profile Evaluation Request

by vh » Mon Dec 17, 2007 3:23 pm
I took my GMAT yesterday and scored 680:44Q, and 39V. I realized that I was getting a low score on Q, when in the last 10min, I had to solve 10 problems. Verbal saved me here. On average, during practice, I was getting Q45-48 and V41-43, so it's in the ballpart, but a tad short of my own expectations.

I want to apply to UC Berkeley EWMBA, Cornell TMO/Accelerated MBA. If I get rejected because of GMAT, I'll give GMAT again and apply for full time for 2009. Basically, goal is graduate by 2011, period. What are my chances? I think I can convince admission committee of my math skills through MS level classes in Maths and Quantum Mechanics.

The question really is whether the GMAT score is going to fall short.

Thank you all for your time and advice!

Hi VH,

A 680 is a good score. It isn't amazing, but with a strong GPA I don't think it's anything to be worried about. GMAT really is just one data point in your application.

If you are in an overrepresented demographic you may face some obstacles with the score, but I would concentrate on other aspects of your application at this point.

Good luck!

Amy, thanks for your response. I'll work on my application and see if I need to give GMAT once more.
