Crazy GMAT scores - what to do?

I've taken the GMAT 3 times now.

1st attempt
Q42V40 - 660

thinking I could do better I took it again
Q40V42 - 680

Knowing my Q was lower than it needed to be for the program I am applying for, I took it a 3rd time

Q46V31 - 640

Unfortunately, the Verbal on the last test was the lowest score Ive ever gotten - by alot (practice and real test included, I have NO idea what happened)

My best Q and V is equivalent to the 720 area. Should I take this again? Does my last attempt just look awful?
I am entering UCLA as a MPP student and would like to do a joint degree with Anderson. Should I just concentrate my efforts on kicking a$$ in the Quant classes?

Any insight would be much appreciated.

I'm unsure what methods you've used to prepare, but if you're in the mid-600s, it's likely that you can raise your score an additional 50 points.

Quant: the MGMAT books are the way to go - make a list of notable strategies (cheat sheets) and memorize/practice with them in OG.
Verbal: can surely be improved as well - focus on your weak areas: MGMAT for SC, Powerscore for CR, and LSAT questions for the Reading Comp.

I think it might just be an off day, and now it seems like the score could be more confusing to AdCom than anything else.

My suggestion is to consult an admission expert before anything else.

I also found the MGMAT verbal guides to be very helpful. As uwhusky said, probably an off day. The psych aspect of these tests can be just as difficult as the questions...
