Hi Stacy,
I'm a prospective applicant for a 2-year MBA starting Fall 2011. I was hoping to get your inputs on what my chances are at the top 10 bschools (specifically Stanford, Wharton, Berkeley Haas, Kellogg, MIT Sloan, ).
I am 24/M Indian and at the time of commencement of classes i would have completed 3 years of corporate work experience with one of the world's biggest tech companies. (i am concerned that this may be too little?)
I'm looking at a role in Private Equity/Venture Capital in the emerging markets domain and then surely and definitely start a new venture.
Work profile:
-Technology Consultant involved in influencing and helping customers with their technology strategy and goals.
Work involved risk analysis, change management, audits, Strategy on optimization/procurement etc.,
-Promoted to handle my companies two big customers as a single point of contact within a year of being with the team.
Also working part time with one of the 3 largest education providers in India as a faculty member/facilitator. Have trained and worked with/on more than a thousand students. I have been conducting on average about 2 sessions a week for the past 2 years.
Education:
Completed my graduation on Electronics Engineering from a Top tier college in India in 2008 with an equivalent GPA of about 3.3)
Will be giving my Gmat in 3 weeks time.
Will be a CFA Level 2 candidate in June 2011
Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities:
- First Indian and the youngest ever member on the Executive committee for an international professional organization with over 350k members. (this while I was a full time student, so dont know how much i can leverage this)
- I have been associated with a nonprofit organization that helps budding entrepreneurs launch their businesses and mentors the youth on entrepreneurship. Currently, I'm a part of the Leadership council. (it has a pan India presence)
- Additionally, I'm associated with a local NGO supporting underprivileged children and have taken initiative in mentoring the children
- Leadership positions in school and in engineering college. Also the youngest member of the Corporate Employee development council in my company.
Additional Info:
Along with 2 more friends, I had founded an Investment company which did pretty well for about 1.5 years at which time it was scaling to and moving in a direction that could not be sustained so we shut it down. (this was while i was still studying full time so cannot be counted in as full time work experience)
I would greatly appreciate your inputs on this and your assessment would go a long way in helping me which schools to target with my profile.
Please let me know if you need any additional info for a more appropriate evaluation.
Thanks and Regards,
Gopal
