Letters of Recommendation

by kylekylewelch » Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:56 am
Long time listener, first time caller!

I'm applying to Stern for next year and all of my application requirements seem inline at this point. I feel I have adequate years of work experience, but with the economic downturn, my current position of online sales and marketing does not have the glitz and glamor I would want to set me apart from other applicants. My previous position was in management and I feel I have a solid recommendation from that position. But my current supervisor has not seen my full capabilities in action, because of the limitations of the job. I have fully discussed my aspirations and he fully supports me. My thought is to get my adviser from undergrad school to write a third letter of recommendation to show the admissions council that I am a well rounded individual and a solid student. Any thoughts on if this will help or do my two professional recommendations seem adequate enough?

Well it depends upon the University's admission requirements as to how many LORs do they require and out of that how many professional and how many academic ones. As for taking it from your undergrad teacher, it is always advisable to take it from your most recent institution rather than an old one.
