The total number of pigs and cows is 40.
Either P or C ..mean P or C are in the 40 so we get P +C = 40

From 1, C>2P
From 2, P>12

Combine 1 and 2, if P=13, C > 2P so it has to be 27

We cant have P = 14 as C>2P will be greater than 40

The Q says 40 are either pigs OR cows, in your explanation you have them both totaling 40. is that correct?

Also, here: "Combine 1 and 2, if P=13, C is 14"
where is the 14 coming from?

all I have a related question . ..

Statement 1 says : the farm has twice as many cows as pigs . c = 2P. Question stem states that C+P = 40

substitute the value of P => C = ~ 80/3 =27 cows and 13 ping ?

is it incorrect to interpret twice as many cows to pigs as c=2P?
