Today was the D-day. Months of preperation all went down the drain. I was never so motivated for this GMAT exam. Yet the crash was very hard.
From 570 to only 650....isn't this a very small leap considering I had put almost 8 months into this (well picked on real pace only in last 2 months).
Today, I scored a dismal 650 (46Q and 34V).
Lets start with Quants:
I had never scored a 46Q in the last few tests. Infact, after reading posts from other BTG members, I was confident of scoring atleast a 48Q. Well, it did not turn out this way. First question....god knows what it was. I put in almost 6 mins and yet could not understand what to do with it. Just made a calculated guess and moved on. After this I was hit was 9 DS questions. I was never top-class in DS, but could atleast expect 7 out of these 9. Things seemed cool until 34th question when I had 3 mins and 4 questions. 3 of the last four were problem solving questions of atleast 4 lines each. Just could do 2 and blindly marked the remaining 2. All in all, I knew I had screwed Quants badly.
In the break I just tried to forget the quants disaster and went positively into verbal.
Verbal started with 2 SC questions, I think I missed the 2nd one. 3rd was a CR and then RC. Thought I was going good. Was quite confident until 20th RC question and my mind drifted into the view of scoring a 40+ verbal score. From here, I think it was a downslide.
Frankly, I did not find any demons in verbal questions. All SC were one or at max 2 liners. CR's too were simple enough to understand. One RC was very long and I think I screwd something there. Mainly, I lost track of time somewhere and was left with 7 questions in 4 mins. Luckly, no RC left, but I think I got a low score because of this. I had to rush through all 7 to make it in time.
One important thing, I attribute my verbal improvement to Stacey (MGMAT) and all the BTG members who have helped a lot. thanks a lot guys.
Materials used:
MGMAt SC,
powerscore CR bible
OG 12
And Verbal supplement
Now, I will focus on my application. If it does not turn out positive, I will go in for another attempt. Any suggestions guys?
