Just Beat the GMAT: 660 (Q47/V34) | AWA 6.0 -:)

So, just got back from taking the GMAT!

Scored a 660 (Q47/V34) | AWA 6.0 . (just got the AWA score today--08/30/10)

Self-studied for 6 weeks and used OG '11 and MGMAT CATs.

Didn't really study for Verbal; went with gut-feeling. I guess that was NOT a good idea.

Took the first GMAT Prep CAT blind and scored 630 (Q46/V32).

My top CAT score (MGMAT) was a 650 (Q45/V35). I took four (4) MGMAT CATs in test-day scenario (w/ AWAs etc.). Took GMAT Prep CATs twice (4). Total of 8 CATs.

I guess unless I can improve the Verbal to at least a V40, it's not worth retaking the GMAT.

I'm aiming for the stars and hopefully I'll land on the moon.

The verbal was on par with the GMAT Prep more so than with MGMAT, at least that is what I felt during the test. The passages were actually interesting (LOL!).

The difficulty in Quant was not too bad. MGMAT Quant is definitely more time-consuming; not more difficult as others have stated. Of course, this is my experience so it varies from person to person.

The Verbal was on par with GMAT Prep so I think if you are doing well on those, you can do well on the real deal. As I mentioned, I didn't really study for the Verbal part; that is why my Verbal scores on all of the CATs hovered around 34/35. I was not able to touch V40 on any of the CATs.

However, I'm satisfied with the result since it is really commensurate to the time (practice) I put in.

I used OG '11 and the MGMAT guides for VICs & Word Translations. I only came to know about the MGMAT guides 12 days before my actual test! So I had to rush through them.

The MGMAT CATs are probably the best practice as they are quite tough and prepare you well for the real thing.

As mentioned earlier, I didn't really prepare for Verbal. I did about 50 questions of the Verbal section in OG '11. Obviously, if I had prepared more, I could have brought my score up significantly.
