690 - 47Q, 37V

by shorttheworld » Sat Aug 28, 2010 2:08 pm
Took the test this afternoon and pulled a 690 and I was aiming for a 700 or higher so I am not sure if I am disappointed or not :P happy with the score in some regards but most likely going to retake it -- there was a guy in the room taking his series 7 and was coughing repeatedly every 5 minutes during the last part of my quant and all through out the verbal, nevermind hammering and drilling occuring in the next room over >:( def feel that it took away from my verbal but i had a question -- do they combine best verbal with best math or just best overall gmat taken at once?

studied for a month -- prolly few hours every other day as not to get too overloaded, mainly went through and checked up on old geometry, algebraic etc rules including isosceles triangles, properties of different shapes and FOILing and quadratic equations haha. initially startedwith kaplan books but then switched to the OG and og supplements mainly as well as delta course ala Ursula for prob and statistics issues -- none of which I really ran into on the test. was finding that sentence correction was bogging me down the most so also went to read the OG verbal books sentence correction and mainly focused on SC and learning the properties of geometry and algebra that ive forgotten. questionwise i mainly focused on the kaplan and OG :)

first kaplan test was 640 and practice tested at 700 and 710 -- feel i can do better esp with the distractions so gonna retake in a month

btw if anyone lives in NYC and wants books to have/borrow let me know :)

congrats for the good score..
700+ is a psychological score..but if u get 700/710 i feel it is not much better than 690
u need to check the schools that u r interested in and check the avg scores and then decide..
anyways all the best for ur future MBA process
