From 2 months getting around 540

Hi,

From 2 months I am getting between 520 and 580. Even 1st time GMATPrep test score was 540.

Now, What I am feeling that my score is stable from 2 months (NO PROGRESS), even I am studying a lots and cleaning my mind while walking on the road.

The avg score is: Q=> 42, V=> 17, RC is my weak point, I am very practical because I like to thinking rather than reading. Frankly speaking I hate reading.

Some negative points in me are:

=> I planned so much to study (strategy making) and try to digest everything in one attempt.

=> RC always dumped me, may be because I never liked it.

=> I read CR argument at least 2 times to understand so it is time consuming. But If I understand, I made it 95% correct.
(Because I read power score CR and Manhattan CR so much and have very good concepts of CR)

=> SC, I do very much stupid mistakes, sometimes I do 70% correct but sometimes around 30%. I feel that I don't have very much memorized of idioms and phrases.

By the way, I am Indian and studied up to 12th Class by Hindi medium (UP board) and learnt A, B, C, D.... from 6th class in my UP's Village Primary school .

I appreciate if you skilled people can help me by giving some inputs to improve my score.
My target score is 680+ but I think I am not able to get it, but I can get up to 600 by improving my English.

Please let me know, is it possible or not to have the VERBAL score 35 if presently I am getting 17 ?

Hello sarwan,

Couple things I have noticed from this post alone. You are making a lot of SC errors that GMAT likes to test. For example, "to thinking" is an incorrect form of the verb "think", and it should be either "to think", infinitive, or "is thinking", present progressive. This is a common SC error that you will find in many of the sentences, and you need to really be aware of them. I make SC errors in my post as well, and I think these specific type of errors may be signs where I need more work. So I would also recommend you to evaluate your own writing and try to find the SC errors.

As for RC and CR, perhaps what you need is a book that will teach you how English sentence structures work. Maybe you're caught up on modifiers such as adjectives, prepositions, and non-essential clauses, while missing the main points of the sentence.

These are my two observations from this post alone. Lastly, I recommend you to change your attitude from "hate" reading to at least "enjoy" reading. GMAT isn't beaten by someone who hates it, but rather by someone who understands it, and most people usually only hate something when they can't understand it.
