What is the value of z in the triangle supplied?

(1) x + y = 139.

(2) y + z = 108.

Hi!

IMO A

there is a rule that can be applied here:

this is a triangle so
x + y + z = 180

(1) x + y = 139

139 + z = 180

z = 180 - 139

z = 41

this statement ALONE is SUFFICIENT so the answer should be A or D

(2) y + z = 108

z = 108 - y

x + y + z = 180

it is INSUFFICIENT

so IMO
A
hope it helps!

Best,
Maciek
