Hi
Well its done. Just came back from the exam ( just a few hrs back), had lunch and a drink and would like to share my experience.
About the exam itself -
Quant - way way way more easy than what we study on the forum and the diff practice tests. I was focused thro most of the section then close to the end realized that I did not have a single real diff question (0 propability, no permutation combination, no diff question at all)
just a note - i have not studied maths since my 10th grade. Did home science after that - so no maths. I am very comfortable with numbers though. My job involved dealing with lots of numbers. Just no formal study of maths.
for all those who wonder if u can do it - well u can. I have never completed a single section on quant (usually I would finish only abt 32 question on quant till I would run out of time)
Verbal - well this is a diff story, my score on verbal was always great - percentile range from 96 to 99 in the MGMAT tests. But in the exam, well I was just sleepy and tired (am not a morning person - could not sleep before 12 last night and the test was at 9 am) So by the time it was verbal i was just tired and feeling sick, was hungry and could not focus. So got the lowest on the verbal section that any of my practice tests.
I am not dissappointed, u win some u loose some. So a lower than expected score on verbal but a better than expected one on the quant. Am in no position to complain.
My test scores -
Princton Review (no study ) 640, 680, 690
GMAT Prep 1- 590
This one made me wake up and think - "ok got to study'
GMAT Prep 2 - 720 (made me relaxed again)
MGMAT 1 - 590 (33 percentile on quant and 81 on english - this was a month before the exam. This was the real wake up call. Ordered all MGMAT books by over night delivery thro Amazon)
MGMAT 2 - 720
MGMAT 3 - 730
MGMAT 4 - 720
MGMAT 5 - 680 (left the last 5 quant question unanswered, ran out of time)
GMAT prep 3 (hardly any repeats) - 730
GMAT prep 3 (hardly any repeats) - 740
Key learnings -
For those who are not wiz kids in Quant -
The forum is a really great place to practice, but pls focus on learning ur basics first. I used to spend a lot of time on the forum, till my first MGMAT test. Then realized how bad i really was. Its easy to think u understand some thing after reading some great explainations. But it can be a fake sense of comfort. I loved the MGMAT books for those who want to clear their basic.
Over all the forum is great. Read all posts by samirpandey - just amazing posts. He is a quant guru - great great great. Thanks Samir for your help.
Every one else on the forum thank you for ur help.
Best of luck with ur GMAT!!!!!
