640 with 3.5 from top-25 University

I'm probably adding this in the wrong place, but just wondering if someone can help.

I graduated with a 3.5 gpa from a top-25 University and scored 640 on the gmat. I've got 14 years of work experience (I'm 35), which includes 10 years of IT and 4 years of accounting. I've managed several projects in both fields. I also have 2 high-ranking public officials as references and a plethora of people offering to review my essays. Do you think I have a shot at a top 10 school with this, or is my gmat going to sink my application? Thanks for any advice.

I dont think such a GMAT score will shrink your profile. I know a friend whose GMAT score is about 600, however, she had managed to get into Wharton. She has years of experience as senior officer in one of the Big four Auditting Company, a rather good GPA and some extra-activities. Adcom will consider your profile as a whole, not only the GMAT. So dont worry about it. Hope this could help.

I completely agree with limestone. You have a good experience and a profile that colleges always look for. You definitely have a shot at top 10.

I think it depends on which program you're looking to get into. Seems like you're a great fit for an executive MBA program rather than the traditional full time MBA program with average of 27-28 and ~5 years of working experience.

i feel u need to get your profile evaluation done through some MBA consultants.. The information given by you speaks strongly of your credentials...
But i feel by giving your detailed profile and your expectations post MBA, they(consultants) might direct your focus on right schools..
