An integer is always a whole number i.e. 0, 1 , 2 , 3....

Hence, square of an integer is always an integer.

2 is the square of sqrt(2), and sqrt(2) = 1.414 which is NOT an integer. To put it simply, 2 is NOT the square of an integer (it is the square of 1.414 which is not an integer). By the same logic, 4 is the square of an integer (i.e. 2)
