GMAT Score:710
Scored about 700 and 660 on two most recent practice exams (GMAC) although many of the questions I had seen before.
Is one month or 5-6 weeks going to be enough time to bump up my score 40-60 points?
I really did take about 17 exams in the past 6 months.
I score a 630 on a Kaplan exam last week and people tell me Kaplan exams are 100 points less than the real score. I got my score today and I am really bummed out. I want to apply to UT Austin, USC, UCLA, and UWashington.....right now I am not even competitive for SMU or UT Dallas. I wanted your opinion as to what I should do and where I should begin with. And I need to know how long for me to keep studying before the October/November deadlines?

Those questions I had seen before I had not memorized the answers but I knew how to do them, also I gave myself alot of time to match the fact that I had seen those questions before.

GMAC OG is helpful.

I have PR 1,012 GMAT questions which is a difficult book and conceptual. Asides from that I only use GMAC 12th edition, GMAC 10th edition, GMAC 1st edition Verbal and Quant, I used GMAC MBA.com prep software but noticed my scores went from 590 in 2009 to 660 or more this year because I had done so many tests.

I think Kaplan fixed their scoring algorithm, so its no longer true that you will score higher on the real thing than you did on the Kaplan tests. Also, my experience with the GMAT prep tests is to expect to score 20-30 points less on the real thing than you do on those tests.

Sid,
Your verbal seems pretty ok and if you could maintain that level consistently and work on Quant then you can easily score 700. For coming one month, I would recommend you to go through MGMAT CATs as OG tests will be inflated for you anyway. Kaplan Verbal is ok but their Quant is easy to score. MGMAT has very good collection of questions with lot of concepts to learn. You can also practice 198 Q from GMATPrep software floating on this site.
