IMO D.

this question is testing modifier and parallelism issue.

Modifier: efficiency is being modified in this sentence. hence, an increase appropriately modifies efficiency.

Parallelism: that would amount parallels that would represent

Why C is wrong? Do we have ambiguous pronoun reference here?
N I think D should have 'that' so that an increase that would parallel that would represent.

Please explain why D is wrong.

Problem with C is 'it' does not have clear reference

I agree that D needs that, but D is the best option among all 5

how did i approached it
2 2 1 split
A B out amouting -not quite right
E-which .....not good
C and D left
in C 'it' could refer to company itself ....not the development...
so D wins
GMAT score is equally counted as your GPA and 78 clicks can change you life.
