Need Guidance

by shwetaa » Sun Jul 18, 2010 9:45 am
Hi,

This is Shweta.

I have 4.5 years of experience in a software firm.I have done my engineering from Mumbai University.
I am going to take my GMAT test in October first week.
I understand that i would be late for applications for the Round 1.

Does applying in Round 2 reduce the chance of securing admissions?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks and Regards,
Shweta.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. You ask a very good question. I always advice applicants to apply in Round 1 if at all possible. The reason being is that 1. It demonstrates to the adcom that you have a solid interest in the program (always a good thing) 2. Round 1 tends to be smaller 3. All the seats are available in the class so you have less applicants competing for more seats. However, I always recommend applying when you are ready. Right now it sounds like you need to focus your time and energy on improving your GMAT. In your case it probably makes the most sense to apply in round 2 in order to give yourself adequate time prepare for the GMAT and then you can focus on your applications.

Best,

Stacey
