I am a 26 year-old female and I have been working for 4 years at a top 5 investment bank in London. I want to do an MBA in the USA both to get some more academic training in finance as well as to work in the USA. I got my undergraduate degree from a top 5 school in the USA, with a 3.6 GPA.
I have taken the GMAT and I have scored 690 (39Q/44V). I will retake the GMAT later this year to improve my Math score, but was hoping to apply for the Columbia J-Term with my GMAT score for two main reasons. Firstly, because I want to continue working in merchant banking/PE, so no career change. Secondly, because I would be graduating a full year earlier than if I waited for the regular September intake.
My main questions are:
(1) Is a score of 690 sufficient for Columbia, especially as the Quant score is weak at 39?
(2) I am not a US citizen or permanent resident (I am Latin American). Consequently, how likely is it that I would get sponsored for a H1B visa after graduation without having done an internship?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
