825. The sale of government surplus machinery will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until the supply lasts.

(A) will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until the supply lasts
(B) begins at 9 a.m., continuing until the supply lasts
(C) will begin at 9 a.m. and, until the supply lasts, will continue
(D) begins at 9 a.m. and, as long as the supply may last, it continues
(E) will begin at 9 a.m. and continue as long as the supply lasts

A. "continue until supply lasts" Actually this is incorrect. You can only use "until" when referring to a completed event. eg. "will continue until the supply is exhausted." This is okay. But "supply lasts" means it is still not exhausted, so it is a sort of intermediate event which does not warrant the usage of "until"

B. Improper usage of until, and we also have an issue with tense here.

C. Wordy form of choice A.

D. wordy form of choice B.

E. Perfect. IT will continue, but only as long as the supply lasts. This compares the length of time for which the sale will continue, to the length of time that the supply lasts.
