Prompt: "As new technology makes it possible for people all over the world to communicate more easily than ever before, understanding among peoples will increase and conflict will decrease."

The author above opines that as technology enables easy communication the understanding between the people will increase and conflicts will decrease. I agree with this statement as communication can help build trust and explore previously unknown solutions, which lead to resolution of conflicts. Though critics may argue communication is not the only way to solve conflicts, nevertheless it is a important one.

First, Communication helps build trust and respect between two parties . The more we communicate the more we understand each other and better we understand lesser the conflict.Consider for example African community of Jarawa ,which has a tradition, whenever two parties have a dispute with each other they approach the village elder who in turn asks each party to state other party's stance. This way they both the parties understand each other from a different perspective and mutually agree to a solution. The same thing can be done in modern context but only problem is warring parties are often separated by oceans. Here technology can bring about communication and help people bridge the gap. Thereby aid in resolving the conflict

Second, Communication helps us explore previously unknown solutions. When we communicate and try to find a solution,we understand other party's concern and meshing it with our concern we can come up with a good solution. Consider the recent deal between deal between Tata steel and corus , two steel companies Tata steel wanted the high technology in steel making which Corus had and Corus on its part wanted to keep the sagging business alive. When Tata approached corus .Corus demanded a high price for technology transfer. Which was not acceptable to tata but since they communicated with each other. Another possibility emerged tata steel took over corus. Thereby tata got its technology and corus was saved. This was possible because the executives were able to communicate with each other even though they were miles apart.

On the other hand critics may argue that years of communication between north and south Korea has had little effect in resolving conflict, but they must remember that without even the basic communication which was made possible by telephones. The situation would have been worse.

In conclusion, The as new technology breaks ground making it easier for people to communicate conflicts will reduce as communication will build trust and make us explore new possibilities
