I am planning to apply to ISB and some other top schools like Stanford, Duke, GSB - Chicago, Columbia, IESE Spain, etc. Do I really stand much chance in getting into these schools. It will be great if the experts can throw some light on my chances of getting into these schools.
I am kind of apprehensive about my chances because my score is not in the range of 740+. I do understand the application part will be important but then how important is the score part. Will 710 affect my chance of getting into these schools?
Also I don't have much intl exp. But have worked/working with global team and investors.

Hello,

You list a range of schools, and I would consider some pretty high reaches, just on the rim of "reasonable" such as Stanford and Columbia, and others that are on-par, such as IESE. A 710 is a bit low for schools such as Stanford and Columbia but it certainly won't take you out of consideration. I suggest adding some schools to expand your chances. You might want to consider LBS, NYU, for example.

Regarding the global experience, what you describe should be fine -- be sure to clarify what you got out of it and how it enhanced your perspective, communication skills, etc.

Best regards,

Thanks Cindy for the reply. In LBS, they particularly stress on global outlook and international exposure. They even have an essay revolving around intl exp. I have not crossed the border so far so no intl exp as such. Hence will like to know about my chances in LBS? Do I have any chances in LBS ?

It's an interesting point. On one hand, it would seem to be a detriment -- probably on its face the adcom would consider it so. On the other hand, if you were extremely insightful about your international communication experiences and directly addressed the issue showing how resourceful you are in learning and growing from such experiences, and articulate a compelling need to build on this via the LBS exposure, it could possibly "turn a lemon into lemonade" as we sometimes say.
