C is wrong because "and" is wrongly used to joint two verbs. The correct usage would have been "it has continued and will continue to perpetuate"

D is wrong because it omits the word "shared", so it changes the meaning.

so we can't join two verbs together with "and"? it has to be a helping verb + action... or something like that? would you happen to know the exact rule?

thanks a ton!

In option C, there are basically two verbs, both containing more than one parts (base verb and auxiliary verb).

Base verbs are "has" and "will". Option C is using only one auxiliary verb "continue". "and" can be used to join two verbs but only if they are complete. Option C is using "and" to join two base verbs, while keeping a common auxiliary verb for both base verbs. This way if you try to separate two verbs, you get "has continue" and "will continue". The later one is correct but the former one is not. The correct usage is "has continued" not "has continue".

Hope that helps..

Great explanation Hardik; Just to add, in D - 'shared' is not omitted but misplaced

Thanks for pointing it out. I didn't notice it. This fact makes D wrong because of modifier error now. :D
