Hi ,
I gave GMAT last year and scored 700
Presently I am working as Team Lead in IBM (in India) with a total experince of 3 years (as of now). I would like to know

1) How good is my score for MBA & Double MBA programs of NUS , Nanyang and AIM, Manila ?
2) Shall I apply to AIM, Manila with GMAT score of 700 or give AIM, Manila exam which will be held later this year ?
3) Shall I give GMAT again if I am targetting above mentioned schools ?

Looking forward for your help

Hi Ashu,

For the schools you've listed, the GMAT score is good enough. Focus on the other elements of your apps - work-ex, management experience, leadership (within and outside work). Aren't you looking at schools outside Asia?

You already have a global brand (IBM) on your CV. Another internationally known (B-school) brand might be worth exploring.

Do you have any other schools on your list?

First of all , thanks for the reply.

1) I have not explored much about schools outside Asia. I checked about US schools but the expenses seems to be out of range for me.
2) On this score which all good schools I can apply for ?
3) Will the IIM (India IT Male) tag with 700 score will be good enough for the schools mentioned earlier ?

Ashu-ji,

Answers to your queries below:

1. For most of us (hailing from middle class backgrounds) the fees and the cost of living seem out of reach. But many schools have tie-ups with banks, loans, scholarships and other ways of supporting the financial needs. I completed my entire MBA program on a bank loan and repaid it back before time (though the post-MBA exchange rate was not in my favour).

2. I'd need a better understanding of your profile - specifically what you have been doing at IBM (and outside), what your postgrad plans are etc before I could recommend schools for you. You might be interested in checking out the MBA Crystal Ball profiling report (includes a huge list of schools that you can choose from) based on your priorities. Here's how it works --> process flow

3. I got a score less than yours and I came from the Indian/IT/Male pool. Here's my story --> link. I got a double scholarship at Cambridge. After completing my MBA, I moved from IT to M&A - a complete career change.
So if you manage your applications wisely (mainly essays, LoRs, resume), there's no reason why you can't do well.

Drop me an email if you want to discuss your profile in more detail.
