I really appreciate your efforts in answering queries of expectant applicants. I hope you will help me out as well.
Pls advise me on how strong you think my profile is for my candidature to top B-schools (and/or for a specialization as a strategy consultant..albeit no experience on the front)

My profile in brief

A/S/L : 29/Male/India
GMAT : 740 (50Q, 40V)
Graduation : B.E (Elec and Comm) with distinction - Mediocre univ - 72.8%
Work ex : 6.5 years
Industry : IT with exposure in Banking, Life Sciences and Insurance domains.
Company : Infosys Tech Ltd.
Leadership roles : Team Lead - 3 years, Project Manager (deputed) - 2 years
Global Experience : Canada - 3 years
Appreciations :
1. Letter of Recommendation from client manager
2. Formal mails of appreciation from client managers.
3. Team Lead for a client team (quite out of norm) - accorded by my client director.
Extra-Curriculars:
1. Sports
i. Squash - Currently playing national level squash tournaments
ii. Cricket - Represented district, college and school
iii. Volleyball - School captain - district level.
2. Others
i. Participations in Debates, Elocutions and Quizzes
ii. School captain

Career aspirations - Consulting
Schools preferred - Top 10 US schools, Top 3 Canadian schools - if possible with financial assistance.

Hello,

You probably already know this, but you come from a very competitive profile (Indian/male/IT), which will make things hard for you. Add in the fact that you already have more than six years of full-time work experience, and I think that you may have a hard time getting into a top-ten school. Depending no where you live, you may want to work another couple of years and then look into some of the stronger part-time programs. Or, if a full-time MBA is what you want, I think you will have to look a little lower in the rankings to be really competitive.

One weakness that I see in your application is a lack of recent "extracurriculars" - aside from squash, I don't see anything that isn't college related. One way to make yourself a more competitive candidate would be to augment this portion of your application (volunteer work/community involvement is very important to top schools).
