Hi, i seem to find the sentence very awkward.... what is the right way of analysing these questions and are there any rules to follow for gerund usage.... thanks..

I believe that the general rule is that if a pronoun proceeds the gerund, then it has to be in the possessive case. Therefore, only choice A and C would fit ("his" is the possessive pronoun). "to be going" is just awkward and wrong.
