Persons A, B and C each take 2 vitamin tablets a day while person D takes only 1 tablet a day. A full bottle of tablets lasts 24 days for all 4 of them. How many days will a full bottle last if D also takes 2 tablets a day?
(A) 12
(B) 15
(C) 18
(D) 21
(E) 22

A, B, and C each take 2 tablets a day while D takes 1 tablet a day.

So total tablets consumed by A,B,C, and D in a day = 7
A bottle of tablets lasts 24 days. Therefore, total # of tablets in the bottle = 7x24 = 168

If D also starts taking 2 tablets a day, then total tablets consumed by A,B,C, and D in 1 day= 8

Therefore, the bottle of tablets will last 168/8 = 21 days.
