In a survey of 200 college graduates, 30 percent said they had received student loans during their college careers, and 40 percent said they had received scholarships.

What percent of those surveyed said that they had received neither student loans nor scholarships during their college careers?

(1) 25 percent of those surveyed said that they had received scholarships but no loans.
(2) 50 percent of those surveyed who said that they had received loans also said that they had received scholarships.

Second statement is really tricky. I missed the part stating that 50% of those surveyed who said that they had received loans .

mean out of 80(i.e the number of people said they have scholarship) 50% had loan

here the modifier 'who said that they had received scholarships' is modifying the modifier 'surveyed' so that we are left with the people who said they had received scholarship

then Y=80*1/2..(as per the diagram)
or Y=40
hence X=40 and Z=20

total X+Y+Z=100

hence number of college graduates said that they had received neither student loans nor scholarships during their college careers =200-100=100

percentage=50%
