Admission consultant

by aielman » Thu Apr 22, 2010 10:51 pm
Hi All.
I am applying to B-schools for the class of 2011 and considering adopting the services of a consulting firm for the top 10 US schools.
I am based out of Bangalore, India. My search for the consultancy firms are mainly on google (I usually won't go over the top 20 searches). My questions are

1. Are there any good consulting services in India which are capable to help me through the grueling admission process (Essays, Interviews and profile suggestions)

2. If I subscribe to the services of an international consulting firm, How effective will this (since most of the conversation happens over the phone). I would request you to share your experiences on the same. Subscribing to the services of an international consulting firm is a huge investment by itself, So i would sincerely request you to share your experiences.

3. After some research (If I have to subscribe to International consulting services) I have narrowed down my choices to Veritas prep or Admissionsconsultants. I have read a lot about veritas prep and they have clearly demonstrated their keenness to assist MBA applicants on this forum. I would request the forum members to share their experience with Admissionsconsultants, if you have subscribed their services.

Aielman--

Thanks for your interest in Veritas Prep. I know it sounds odd to work with someone without meeting face to face, but believe it or not, it's actually very effective. If you would like to get the personal perspective of a recent client, feel free to email [email protected], who can give you some candid insight on how well it worked for him. He's a client I recently helped get in at Duke, Chicago, Wharton and Yale. I am sorry but I do not know of any consultancies in India.

Hello,

I am actually interested in working with an admissions consultant as well. However, my main concern is timing. I really want to ensure my application is competitive, but I have not scheduled my GMAT examination until late September 2010. My work experience, GPA, recommenders, etc. etc. are all positive. However, the GMAT is my weakest area.

My question:

Will this leave me adequate time to apply to the good programs? I have tried to go through this process before, but I had to delay it due to health issues.

I appreciate whatever advice you can provide. I would gladly push it to Round 2 - if I did not feel like it would hurt my chances.

aielman I am in NYC and I'm working with a Veritas consultant out in California. I don't how the type of insight that one can give in person that they can't give over the phone/skype or through email. I think it's more important to be working with one of the best in the business rather than the closest proximity.
My goal is to make MBA applicants take onus over their process.
