Last minute Profile Evaluation!

by ellomate » Fri Apr 23, 2010 9:41 am
Hey Stacy,

I've read some of your profile evaluations of other prospective students and really like the tailored advice you give. So I decided to come out of the woodwork and ask you to evaluate my profile.

Here are some stats:

24/F/Black-American
GPA - 3.41
GMAT - > Last Practice Test was 590, official test date next week.
W/E -> 2.5 years with a Fortune 500 (Finacial Analyst)
EC - Team Leader/Volunteer for several projects with NYCares

I am applying to NYU Langone for Fall 2010 (deadline is May 15th)

I would love to hear whether I'm competitve for Stern. Should I apply for Fall 2010 or should I get more work experience/extra curriculars? Is there anything I can do in the short run, aside from increasing my GMAT scores, to increase my chances?

Thank you!

Dear ellomate,

Depending on how you do on the GMAT, I think you have the foundation for a competitive application for the Langone Program. Your GPA is strong and you have solid work experience. As long as you score in the mid-80% range, I think you should go ahead and apply unless you feel you are not ready to start the program this year. It is imperative you have a great application package though in the event your GMAT does come in below average. A strong set of essays, great interview, and solid recommendations can make a compelling case for the admissions committee to offer you a seat in the class.

Best of luck!
Lisa
